A Learners Guide To Driving Tuition In Glasgow

By John Robertson

So, you are considering learning to drive and need to explore the possibilities of having driving lessons in Glasgow. You may have already scoured the local newspaper, done an Internet Google search and read through the Yellow Pages, but are still at a loss as to what to do! Don't be concerned because you are not alone. Many people do the same. The aim of this short article is to inform you as to what you need to know to begin.

You were wise in your decision to find a professional school of driving. A surprising number of people try to persuade a friend or relative who seem to have a lot of experience to teach them. This is not normally a wise decision. You only need to look around at the traffic chaos in Glasgow these days to understand the need for thorough training. There is no substitute a good grounding in basic driving skills from an accredited instructor. One who not only has driving but also teaching gifts? Not something a friend or well-meaning relation has usually!

It is a good idea, when choosing an instructor; not make the error of looking for the lowest price. It seldom pays off. Also, if possible, get a reference from someone you personally know and trust. The driving instructor who comes with a good reference is by far your safest course of action.

If you can afford it, aim to take a one-hour lesson weekly at least. A word of caution though; be careful not to take the other extreme and if you can afford it take a lesson daily, on the assumption that the more the merrier. Too many lessons compressed together would be totally counter intuitive. You would simply become confused and physically weary.

When your Instructor suggests you can deal with more lessons, he/she will let you know. But take their advice and don't push it. This is wise too if it is suggested you try for a mock practical test, which incidentally, is definitely worth taking as a practical prelude to the real thing.

The written exam one must take at the same time, as the practical will be offered too. Hopefully, when the big day arrives, you will pass first time.

It is of prime importance to find a good school. If you have had no luck in obtaining recommendations from others-maybe you are not familiar with the area for example, you can always ask around in local stores or pubs. Be sure also to check that the driving school offering driving lessons in Glasgow is registered with the trade body.
